Stewardship

A Community Built with What Lasts

The River District vision is built on principles lasting long after our involvement has ended — with respect for the environment, the creation of sustainable community relationships and a commitment to the well-being of all residents that leads to the enjoyment of life for generations to come. At Crescent Communities, our desire is not only to provide shelter but also to build community and change lives for the better. Our stewardship reflects our appreciation for the beauty of nature, the cherished company of friends and neighbors, the gift of health and happiness, and our determination to cultivate and preserve the values that ultimately give back to the community. A place that promotes and protects the unique beauty of the land and the freedom of each individual adding to its radiance, The River District is a vision for the future we share.

4 Pillars of Stewardship:

ENVIRONMENT | Committed to respecting the natural world
To build prosperous and healthy communities within the ecological limits of our planet, it is essential to tackle climate change with disciplined and thoughtful development.  We have adopted environmental sustainability principles, practices, and processes to both sustain the environment and support thriving economies.  We seek to inspire our colleagues, residents, tenants, and the broader development community to make positive changes that enable ecosystems to flourish.

COMMUNITY | Committed to sustaining relationships
A community is a network of relationships, enriched by shared values and motivated by the fundamental human desire to be part of something greater.  We seek opportunities to build a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive community for our colleagues, partners, customers, and neighbors.  When we provide opportunities for all, not only do we allow for productive communities to form and flourish, but we also create economic success.

WELLNESS | Committed to the well-being of our residents
We invest to create environments that support physical and emotional well-being.  When we design communities where healthy choices are easy to make, we in turn support the well-being of every person who lives, works, and plays there.  The places we create then become the catalyst for a healthier and happier lifestyle, not only for our residents and tenants, but for the greater community.

RESILIENCY | Committed to the future
Our culture of resilience is demonstrated by our approach to community development and our overall business strategy.  To create communities that remain relevant and prosperous over time, we balance our vision and values with flexibility to adapt.  Focusing on a foundation of resiliency allows us to seed communities that will sustain and continue to thrive long after our involvement ends.  The cultivation of diverse yet synergistic lines of business supports a strategy that is both robust and resilient, yielding consistent results.

Beautiful architecture, charming porches, and unique community hamlets provide a sense of community like no other in Charlotte.

MEMORABLE SPACES

Outdoor dining, a children's learning garden and nature playground, fire pit and shade

The River District Waterfront is all about creating Charlotte's first public access to the Catawba River.  River Point at the River District will provide canoe/kayak/paddle board launches, food and beverage opportunities as well as trails that connect you back to Westrow Town Center.

Outreach

Diversity & Inclusion

At The River District, we consistently strive to create meaningful partnerships and opportunities that enhance upward mobility, boost the diversity of our workforce, and ultimately improve the quality of life for people in our community. We have created a process to further our engagement and outreach with minority and small businesses throughout the development of The River District. The first step in this process is forming relationships, and we’d like to get to know you. If you’re interested in working with us at The River District, click here to tell us about your company. Once registration is complete, you'll be added to our database to receive opportunities from The River District and other partners of Crescent Communities.
